 Bio

James was raised in a Christian household in Memphis, TN and accepted Christ at a very young age. He was a “good kid” who strived for excellence in everything. As he got older and grew in his knowledge of the Lord, he began to grow in pride in himself, not realizing that although his mind was growing in knowledge, his heart was not growing in faith. While he was at MSU on a football scholarship, a friend and teammate noticed that James’ attitude didn’t line up with his Christian beliefs. He invited James to FCA, and things began to change. During the next three years, James served on the FCA leadership team where he learned grace, love, and humility. These years were vital to his life of discipleship. After graduating in 2005 with a degree in business administration, he attended the Kanakuk Institute, a Bible college in Branson, MO. He graduated from there in April 2006. Shortly after, James married Jasmine, and they moved to Auburn for nine months to complete the FCA Chaplain’s Training Program. They have been in Hattiesburg since May 2007, fulfilling their call to the ministry.

Favorite scripture: 2 Timothy 2:2

And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Bio

Jasmine was raised in a Christian household in Picayune, MS where she accepted Christ at a young age. She was excited about her faith, sharing Jesus with kids at recess. However, during high school, her life as a Christian started to become less important. She found herself being more interested in worldly things than the things of the Lord. College came around and she spent her freshman year on a basketball scholarship at Jackson State University. When that didn’t work out, she transferred to Loyola University but knew that was not where she was supposed to be. She prayed about where to spend her remaining college years, and God led her to Mississippi State on a track scholarship. It was there at an FCA retreat that Jasmine surrendered her life fully to the Lord. She served on the FCA leadership team and discovered compassion, humility, and a passion for evangelism. After graduating with a degree in English in 2006, she married James and they completed the FCA Chaplain Training Program at Auburn University. In May 2007, they moved to Hattiesburg to begin the FCA ministry at Southern Miss.

Favorite scripture: Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
