Message from a Former FCA Member

Jolisa Evans was very involved with FCA during her time at Southern Miss. We asked her to tell us what FCA meant to her while she was here. This was her response:

Fellowship of Christian Athletes was the best thing that could have ever happened to the University of Southern Mississippi; well in my eyes, anyway. My freshman year, I encountered many ups and downs--more downs than ups--and I really needed some instructional guidance in my life, and that is exactly what  FCA has been to me. Preceeding my freshman year James and Jasmine Cochran came to Southern Miss and began the campus ministry. Immediately I plugged in because I knew that I needed to get my life on track. James and Jasmine have been there for each student-athlete in any situation. FCA has given me the opportunity to grow in Christ and learn so many new things that I never knew about the Bible; and not only about the Bible, but about myself as well. Learning and memorizing Bible verses is possibly the most helpful part of FCA because those verses can always help someone through tough times. Becoming a member of this campus organization has gotten me connected with so many inspiring people who not only love God, but others as well. Through FCA, I was also able to find a church that helped me grow, a church where I understood the message and it related to me and my situations. Fellowship of Christian Athletes is one of the biggest highlights of my college career. I am sad to be leaving behind everyone and the guidance that I have received through the ministry, but this ministry has prepared me well for the world and I will definitely take everything I have been taught and apply it wherever I go and profess boldly that Jesus Christ is my Lord as well as bring others to Christ!

WEEKLY HUDDLE MEETINGS

FCA meetings will start on August 31th. Check here weekly to review the weekly huddle meeting!

SATURDAY MORNING BREAKFAST CLUB

Saturday Morning Breakfast Club is a new approach to women's discipleship. Every other Saturday morning, the girls on the Southern Miss Leadership Team will meet with Jasmine at the Cochran home for breakfast and Bible study. This semester, we plan to dig into Chip Ingram's teachings on Spiritual Gifts. Be in prayer for us to learn our gifts and to bring glory to our Lord for using them in our everyday lives.
